Can the philosophy of mind be a center of philosophies in general? Can problems on the human mind and those of other creatures or artifacts that are central to the philosophy of mind be also the core problems in the philosophical discussions in general? By posing such problems and teaching the students how to seek answers to them, can we introduce the students efficiently to fundamental philosophical problems and discussions that are basic and important in western philosophical tradition? In the present paper I seek answers to the above questions and related ones to estimate the prospects of teaching the philosophy of mind as a general introduction to philosophy at a college or university. I also explain how I've been trying to deliver such lectures at a certain university for several years. Finally I present in the appendix an example of teaching materials that I prepared for my lecture course.
