At Asahikawa Medical University, we have provided remote medical support with a combination tele-medical consultation system using an internet and real-time video conference system.
We evaluated the tele-ophthalmology communication records to consider the trends in tele-medical assistance requests. Local ophthalmologists have been provided with highly specialized medical support for ocular treatment through the tele-medical consultation system without the need to transport the patients and/or dispatch physicians. The use of the tele-medicine support system enables rapid strategies decision-making for local patients.
